WE WANT YOU!!!!
Valley College Philharmonic Choir seeks choral singers in all parts to join us for Orff’s Carmina Burana. Our performance is on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 7:00PM; we rehearse every Tuesday from 7:00-9:55PM, beginning February 9, 2010. We will asses basic music reading proficiency through a simple audition process. For the performance, we will be joined by the San Fernando Valley Master Chorale (Pierce College).
If you don’t know this piece, it is one of the great choral works of the 20th century, and has been featured in numerous movies and commercials. If you do know the piece, we invite you be part of our efforts to bring this incredible performance to your community. With primal rhythms and exotic melodies, Carmina Burana remains as vibrant and fresh today as it did when it was first performed in 1937. That said and simply put, this is a really fun and richly rewarding piece to sing!!!
The conductor for this performance is Dr. Michael Arshagouni, who has led choirs for over 25 years, and has conducted in England, Germany, Japan and throughout the United States, including the Royal College of Music, London, the National Cathedral, Washington DC, and at Royce Hall, UCLA.
The LAVC Philharmonic Choir warmly welcomes you to share in this experience. All community singers are invited. Please call 818-947-2350 for further information, or just show up on Tuesday night, February 9th (or February 16th, if you cannot make it on the 9th).
We rehearse in the Recital Hall of the Music Building at the northwest corner of campus, near the intersection of Fulton and Oxnard.
